Wildcats and Wildkittens Pubcrawl 2003

Saturday, April 12, Shepherds Bush. From midday the Wildcats and Wildkittens began assembling at the mighty Walkabout, for a couple of recreational sips before the proceedings got under way, and as the organisers assembled the teams.

Soon the captains and the teams were announced and preparations for the massive boat-race were made.

The official team list was as follows:

Team 1     Grappa (c), Pratty, Stu, Des, Kylie, Cindy, Chelsea, Carena, Nath, Katie, Naomi
Team 2     Jimi (c), Rossco, Umpy, Amy, Geoff, Ange, Tash, Melissa, Neilo, Lucy, Tarns
Team 3     Cecelia (c), Tas, Bandanna Matt, Genny, Nicole, Stringy, Carolanne, Clayton, Lofty, Michelle, Amy F
Team 4     Jo (c), Cam, SOS, Coggers, Leigh, Alison, Bobby Byrne, Bec, Lozza, Lisa, Leigh
Team 5     A.K. (c), Wes, Dirt, Bobby A, Fran, Bel, Olivia, Bakes, Anna, Jade, Mel
Team 6     Hairy Paul (c), Paul, Dera, Jason, Marty, Becky, Gen, Jack, Lyndsey, Hobbsy, Gail
Team 7     Parso (c), Skip, Ben, Greg, Beccy, Laura, Janelle, Amanda, Ali Cat, Neil, Ayako
Team 8     Tyron (c), Sylvia, Jane, Rebecca, Nicole, Sarah, Ants, Jimmy, Melissa, Melinda, Luke, King

The next pub on the list was O'Neils, but SOS only got about ten metres before he needed a sit down. O'Neils was already packed when we got there and there was no room for us, so it was straight across the road to the Vesbar, O'Neils would have to wait. The captains had the drinks rosters, and the teams were quickly getting through the allotted drinks, and even getting a few extras in.

Pubcrawlers are not known for their good sense of 'traffic awareness' so it was lucky we had Bobbie B and Wes to hold up the main road traffic enabling Wildcats and Kittens to wander out of the Vesbar and back across to O'Neils in safety.

Belushi's was next on the list, and the teams were consuming massive amounts. By this stage all the teams had consumed well over a hundred drinks each, and some even more. Belushi's was the the venue of the last team events, and many scorers had had to start using the backs of their cards for extra room. The cards were then tallied up by the Officials and the winning team was announced as Team 7, ably led by Parso.

Most of the teams were gathered together for team photos, and Bobbie Byrne wowed the crowd with his impression of Grappa, and his view on a anti-war poster he found lying around somewhere. The photographer would also like to point out the skill required to take many of the group photos before Woody or Bobby Appleton managed to sneak themselves in somewhere. Obviously he failed a few times.

After Belushi's, a few people stopped in at the Slug and Lettuce, but it was soon back to Home sweet Home, the Walky to continue on into the night. Look out for the photos of Lofty the big-rig driver, and the one that explains just exactly why they call him "Hairy Paul". Tyron did well with his harem in Belushi's, but was later seen in the Walkabout executing what can only be described as some 'magical' ballroom dancing techniques. Dogga also got the usual reaction to his backup move when his conversation ran dry with Tarns, and who knows what was going through Slates' mind there towards the end of the evening!

Another fantastic Wildcat and Wildkitten social event - lets see everyone again at the next one!
